Introduction to LEDs
The Famous LED!
LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. The LED is one of the products in the modern electronics technology, which can not be missed in our daily lives and
which has gone through rapid development acceleration the last couple of years.
Applications in cars
A lot of dashboard and cockpit adjustments where bulbs are replaced by LEDs that do not only give more light but due to their small color spectrum also provide purer colors.
And LEDs in places where you do not normally find light such as ignition key lighting, door handle lighting, and bright alarm LEDs in the doors and the dash. Red or blue, it’s your party!

where the parking lights are replaced by a foothold (BA9s or wedge edge) with four bright white LEDs.

Also manufacturers are now seriously starting applications for LEDs are a replacement for the halogen lamp and even as a replacement for the expensive HID (High Intensity Discharge) lighting, also know are Metal Halide or Xenon lamp. Because despite the high efficiency there are also downsides to HID lighting:
Expensive converters are needed to ignite the gas discharge lamp and have it work within its specifications.
They work with very high voltages (25kV ignition voltage) which aren’t handy in a humid outside environment. Besides the humidity the sot and dirt that exists under the hood is also not a good insulator.
The light need to warm up, which means they are not really suitable for signaling with your headlights.
The gasses inside the lamp un-mix, which causes the efficiency to decrease and color differences to occur.
Also there is helical instability (due to gravity) which leads to flickering.

Other Applications
There are many more examples of applications where LEDs can be used, such as spotlights in and around a house or building, or as decorative garden lighting.
One could also create rainbow effects, big round clocks with blue numbers and arms for a company lobby or storage hall, lighting for mirrors or behind engraved mirrors,
the lighting of mountain crystals and big LED display scoreboards with bright blue LEDs for events. Anything is possible.
